Hi Alex,
Do you know where I could have an excellent pastrami sandwich?
I used to go to goldenberg in avenue de wagram, but unfortunately it's now closed.
I' ve tried finkelstein in rue des rosiers (best one for the french) for me it wasn't a pastrami sandwich.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

I do most of my pastrami eating in NY, but friends have recently mentioned a new place in the Marais as being good.

Schwartz's Deli
16 rue des Ecouffes, 4th
T: 0148873129

If you try it, please let me know if it's any good!

Best, Alec

Hi Alec,
I've tried Schwartz's Deli, It wasn't excellent. The fries were ok but the pastrami was very dry and barely hot. The rye bread a bit soggy. (I didn't mind going)
Next time, I'll buy the ingredients and do it at home and if that doesn't work I think I may return to that place in a year.
Cheers

Sorry to hear that Schwartz's wasn't a success. I love good pastrami, so if anyone has any other ideas for same in Paris, I'd love to hear about them.

I live right next door to a traditional French restaurant called Le Bouclard (1, rue Cavallotti, 75018 Paris). The owner lived in New York for a long time and got a taste for pastrami so as well as pigs' feet and kidneys and tète de veau you can also get what I (a food-loving gentile) consider to be a mean pastrami sandwich. He has recently opened a pastrami bar in the 10th arrondissement (64 rue d'Hauteville, 01.79.25.89.75) which I have yet to try but which looks tempting. They offer beef, veal and turkey pastrami sandwiches as well as a couple of salads and some deserts - cheese cakes, brownies, icecreams etc. If anyone does try it let me know!
